Run/Bike Events launch a ground breaking Running and Cycling Race in North Suffolk

July Charity Forest Running/Cycling race to be first of its kind in the UK?

Friday 20th July 2007 at 7.00 pm will see the first staging of the World Property Centre Forest Challenge, a
radically new event which it is hoped will raise much needed funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign - The only UK charity researching into a group of muscle wasting diseases.

Run/Bike Events, a team of committed runners, cyclists, race officials and charity organisers team up to launch a new format of the increasing popular running and cycling race.
The race will be staged over 11miles, entirely off road in the scenic Thetford Forest Park near Brandon, Suffolk. Teams of two, one cycling and one running will compete on Forest trails in this inaugural Friday evening event. Teams may swap on and off the bike as often as they like or may elect to have one runner and one cyclist, the only proviso being you stay within 10 metres of your team mate and cross the finish line together.

Background:
Run/Bike events were inspired by the story of former pro cycling rider, Australian born Allan Peiper. Peiper was one of the 1980s most respected riders who moved to Belgium at the age of just 16. In his autobiography ”A Peiper’s Tale” Peiper describes taking part in run & bike races in Wallonia, Belgium in which teams of two would take turns to run and cycle.
